How do I change my Fixed Phone / Broadband Plan?

How long do changes take?

Plan upgrades and downgrades take effect from your next monthly bill.

Calling or Speed Packs

Calling and Speed Packs can be added or removed at any time and will take effect 24-48 hours from the request. These packs will be pro-rated and will align with the bill date of your plan.

Channel Packs

Yes TV by Fetch Premium Channel Packs can be added or removed at any time. The monthly access fee is charged in advance and is non-refundable. When cancelling a Channel Pack, the Channel Pack will remain active until the end of the billing period. Click here for help adding / removing Channel Packs.

I need help choosing a plan

NBN Customers

A. It all comes down to how you want to use your internet. Benefits of the $80 Plan compared to the $60 Plan are:

  • The $80 plan comes with Speed Pack 2 included (NBN Standard Evening Speed), with the option to purchase Speed Pack 4 (NBN Premium Evening Speed) for an additional $20 per month (for FTTN, FTTB, FTTP and HFC – excluding Fixed Wireless)
    • Fixed Wireless also comes with Speed Pack 2 included (NBN Standard Evening Speed), you can purchase Speed Pack 3 (NBN Standard Evening Plus Speed for $20 if you wish
  • Yes TV by Fetch is included with the plan (a Mighty set top box is supplied)
  • Choice of 1 Premium Channel Pack on Yes TV by Fetch included
  • Optus Sport included

A. You should be able to use the $60 Plan to stream your favourite content to your TV.

One thing to keep in mind is that sharing the connection between multiple people or devices at the same time could mean things get a bit congested, especially during peak periods (weeknight evenings). This may impact the quality of video or the speed of downloads on any or all of the devices sharing the connection.

On the NBN, the $80 Plan is activated on a higher network speed and therefore should provide higher quality video or faster downloads across more devices at the same time.

Note: It’s hard for us to make guarantees about what will and won’t work on any of our plans because of so many different factors that influence internet speeds. For example, your distance from the nearest telephone exchange, or the quality of the line into your house, could result in a different experience to someone in the same neighbourhood as you.

A. The only way to get faster speeds with Optus NBN is to buy our $80 Plan which comes with Yes TV by Fetch with a choice of Premium Channels included. You don’t have to use the Yes TV by Fetch product when you buy the plan, however the set top box will still be provided. Even if you don’t want the Yes TV by Fetch Channels, the Mighty set top box allows you to pause and rewind live TV, record shows, watch Catch-Up TV and provide access to Netflix and Stan on the TV using your membership subscription.

A. On the NBN we provision a higher speed on our $80 Plan than our $60 Plan which should result in a better video experience, particularly if you’re watching higher quality streams or streaming to multiple devices at the same time.

A. If you want to share your internet connection between several users and or devices, especially for video, TV or gaming, the $80 Plan would be recommended with Speed Pack 4 (NBN Premium Evening Speed) for an additional $20 per month. Watching and or recording multiple Yes TV by Fetch channels at the same time in different rooms uses more data, as does watching higher quality videos on Netflix, so we recommend this pack for high video users. A. Not necessarily, it depends on the plan you’re on and the plan and options you choose on the NBN. The default speed on our new $60 Plan and $80 Plan are both lower than the theoretical maximum on our Optus Cable network.

If speed is important to you, the $80 Plan with Speed Pack 4 for $20 per month is the most similar to the Optus Cable plans.

  • Speed Pack 1 - configured on NBN 12 (Basic Evening Speed)
  • Speed Pack 2 - configured on NBN 25 (Standard Evening Speed)
  • Speed Pack 3 - configured on NBN 50 (Standard Plus Evening Speed)

*Typical Peak Speed calculated over a two-week period ending 23/10/2017 and is the average speed experienced by a representative group of customers between 7pm and 11pm. It is not a guaranteed minimum speed. Maximum Off-Peak Speed is the maximum speed that the majority of customers can expect during other times. The actual speed you will experience depends on a number of factors including your access type, demand on the network, local conditions such as internet traffic, your line condition, your hardware and software, the data source or destination and your location which can interfere with reception and speed.

^The Typical Peak speed for Speed Pack 1 will be refreshed on a quarterly basis in accordance with ACCC guidelines. The published figure may increase or decrease over time. The published figure is not representative of future performance and should not be considered a guaranteed minimum.

Fibre to the Node or Fibre to the Basement customers will have their speed confirmed once the service is activated and if the plan or speed pack chosen can’t be supported by the line, alternative options will be provided.

Note: Speed packs are not available on the $60 Plan (Basic Evening Speed).

Non NBN Customers

A. The benefits of the $80 Plan compared to the $60 Plan are:

  • Yes TV by Fetch is included with the plan (a Mighty set top box is supplied)
  • Choice of 1 Premium Channel Pack on Yes TV by Fetch included
  • Optus Sport subscription
  • For Optus Cable customers, Speed Packs can only be added on the $80 Plan (the $60 Plan cannot be increased)

A. The plans work very similarly and therefore your video experience should be the same. However, our $80 plan is specifically built for video with the inclusion of Yes TV by Fetch along with the Mighty set top box.

Cable network customers on the $80 Plan can upgrade their speed to 100mbps to support multiple users watching video at the same time (Note: Speed upgrade is not available on the $60 Plan).

General FAQs

A. If you connect to one of our Fixed networks and the speed at your premises is not sufficient to use the Yes TV by Fetch product, you will be able to cancel your plan with no cancellation fees.

We make every effort to check for service viability during the sales process, however we don’t always have enough information to know the estimated network speeds prior to the connection being established.

Can I change my plan at any time?

Yes! You can change from an older plan to any of our current Fixed Plans even if you’re currently in contract.

If you’re currently in contract you will need to recontract for another 24 months. There may be a fee charged on your next bill if the new plan is of a lower standard value than your current plan.

If you’re not in a contract, there is no plan change fee, and you can stay month to month or sign up on a contract.

Note: If you change from a plan that is no longer available, unfortunately you will not be able to return to that plan.

What happens if I move?

If you relocate with us you have the following options:

  • Keep your existing plan and there will be no changes to any existing contract you may have
    OR
  • Change to the new Fixed Plans
